Time, like an ever-rolling stream bears all its sons away; they fly forgotten, as a dream dies at the opening day. |
||
|
Do you, like me, feel that the above verse is the very opposite of Remembrance? If so, then if the hymn "O God, our help in ages past" is chosen, either this verse could be omitted, or it could be replaced by the verse I have written below: |

|
Time tends to bear the past away, forgets those near and dear; but we remember them this day and hold them very near. |
