| COMMENT: SONG - GO AND TELL | ||
|
I wrote this to conclude my leading of a parish 'Alpha' weekend. It is based on Christ's command to the demoniac after he had been delivered: Go home and tell your friends what good things the Lord in his mercy has done for you.[Mk.5:19] That seemed to me to be an ideal theme for any final session. I wrote this to enable those present not only to hear me telling them to Go home and tell, but to enable them to sing about it for themselves! I had no existing tune in mind and wrote the music for it printed here. I chose 3/4 time since, when not taken slowly, it has a lilt to it that suggests both lightness of heart and movement. I made the tune simple so that it could be sung without rehearsal after just a couple of play-overs. |

Jesus said: 'Go home and tell your friends what good things the Lord in his mercy has done for you.'[Mk.5:19] Chorus: Go home and tell, tell all your friends, what Christ has done for you! Go home and tell, what Christ has done, in mercy, done for you. 1. Tell of God's love; tell of Christ's birth; tell of his ministry. Tell of his Cross – dying for us – for them, for you, for me. (Chorus – optional) 2. Tell of Christ's life; death beaten back! Tell of his victory! Tell of his gift - Spirit in power, poured out on you and me!
